Marron are the largest freshwater crayfish in Western Australia – and the third largest in the world – and are endemic to WA’s south west. They can grow to more than 380 mm in total length. Fishing for this tasty crustacean has long been a Western Australian tradition. Marron range in colour from jet-black to striped (tiger), from red to brown, and also a stunning cobalt blue – a rare, natural variation now farmed for aquariums.
